Hi I am Gemma

Frontend Developer, based in England

Hi! It is crazy to think that my passion for coding came from being a young teenager editing myspace background code. After college I pursued a degree with honours in primary teaching with computing. However knowing my passion was coding I returned and completed a MSc Computer Science aswell. This MSc really ignited coding as my passion. My dissertation was titled ‘Incorporating glia cells into neural networks; calcium dynamics and learning' and looked at a programmed artificial brain, using MATLAB, and specifically how the changes of calcium within the brain triggered spikes of information. As a very logical, science loving problem solver the Msc really cemented this career path for me. After University I started my own business from home whilst raising my four children. It enabled me to build relationships with a wide range of clients and customers, look for beneficial gaps within the industry and also use my business as a platform to raise money for local cancer hospices and childrens charities. This last year I have been working as an SEN specialist whilst also completing a comprehensive coding boot camp that covers HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, Github, APIs, data manipulation and react. I have enjoyed delving into responsive coding, using bootstrap and HTML, to code responsive websites that adapt to any device. I completed this course for own growth, whilst also working full time, in the hope of getting a career within the technology sector. When not at work, you’ll find me reading books or traveling to judo competitions with my family.
